Short answer: just a crazy kid with a dream.
Seriously, dreams are a big deal to me, and I hope they are to you as well. It’s part of my purpose: I take ACTION to turn DREAMS into a refined VISION, then ultimately into REALITY. I do this for myself, and help others to do the same. That’s it in a nutshell! That’s the way I live my life, and that is what this site is all about. That’s why I have the ADVR Team website.
I live outside Houston, TX and have an incredible family. My wife (Shanna) and I both work (her in Education, me in Financial Services), and our 4 young kids keep us running. I also have a daughter in college. Things are jumping! We both are driven by the burning desire for real independence for ourselves, and our family. Both of us at different points came to the realization that to get where we want to go, to have a lifestyle we have designed, we had to take concrete, identifiable steps to do everything in our power to shape our future. As my friend and mentor Troy Dooly puts it, we needed an “R-P-M”. That’s a Results-focused, Purpose-driven, Massive-action plan. So each of us invested in ourselves and in our futures. This has taken various forms, and is an ongoing process, but the bottom line here is that I realized the American Dream is alive and just fine thank you, it’s just been obscured by a lot of clutter for a lot of folks. This not only makes it more difficult to achieve, but to even see it in the first place.
“Gee, Alan. That’s all fine and good, but what does it all mean?” Fair enough. Here’s the deal: I’ve talked about dreams. Dreams are great, but unless you want to play Walter Mitty, you have to turn those dreams into a Vision, then back up that vision with a burning desire that together will keep your destination in focus. Not just at the beginning when you’re all fired up, but when things get tough, when you’re slogging it out in the trenches. You can’t just “wish”, you have to back it all up with an Action Plan that will get you there.
I decided that the road to get me where I want to go will not always wind through corporate America. The projects I am currently involved in are amazing, and I’m always looking to help anyone who wants to live the Excellent Life. What’s up with the cars?
Oh, uh, that. Well, that’s a passion of mine: classic muscle machines, especially those with a Ford engine! Not that a big-block Vette would be such a bad thing….
I love their look, how they reek of gasoline, and how they sound. At some point, I expect to have one or two in the garage.
